HC orders protection for dance programme

Madras High Court bench here today directed the police to provide protection for the "Bharatha Natiyam" programme On November 22 and Village Adal Padal Programme (Dance and Music)programme the next day at a temple at Akkiyampatti village in Tiruchirappalli district with stringent conditions including dress code for men and women.

Justice S Vaidyanathan imposed the conditions which included that men should wear only dhoti or pyjamas and women should wear saree or half saree or chudidhars with upper cloth. The children should be fully covered.

The judge said police should give permission only with the above conditions.

The judge said the dress code was being ordered to enhance the spiritual ambience among the devotees coming to the temple.
 

He also warned that organisers of the programmes should not allow to raise slogans against party leaders or against caste or community.

The judge said after the function, on November 25, police should file are report whether the conditions were complied with or not.
