Pulling up the city Police for acting in a callous manner on a complaint by a private bank employee who was kidnapped, assaulted and robbed by three Armed Reserve Police personnel, Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court today ordered transfer of the case to CB-CID.
Justice N Kirubakaran, who allowed a petition by M Jeyakumaresh, said though the incident took place on June 28 last and the victim had approached the police with relevant documents, the accused were arrested only on July 8.
"In fact they have been arrested on July 8th morning and produced before the Judicial Magistrate in the night so that nobody, especially the media, will know about the robbery by cops. The cops have acted so carefully", he said adding it was like "Fence eating the crop".

Two accused in the case had already got bail because the police did not conduct the case properly in the lower court, the Judge said.
The Petitioner had submitted that the three constables robbed him of his ATM card and withdrew Rs 50,000 cash from his account while he was waiting at a bus stand here.
Though he gave a complaint to the police on July 3, Police registered the case only on July 8.
He also alleged that police took his signature in a paper and as he refused to heed the advise of the local Inspector and Sub-Inspector for a compromise, they asked the three constables to give a deposition as if he was a homosexual.
Instead of registering cases under sections for abduction, assault and robbery, they registered case against them under simple sections, he contended.
