HC refuses to interfere on diverting rainwater to drought

The Madras High Court Bench here today refused to interfere on issues like interlinking of rivers and diverting rainwater to drought prone areas, stating that such things were exclusive domain of the government.

Justices R Sudhakar and V M Velumani, disposing a PIL filed K Mani, an advocate, seeking to direct the state government to divert rain ater from Kanyakumari to Tirunelveli and Tuticorin districts, praised the objective behind the petition and said the court could not interfere in such matters as they were policy decisions to be taken by the government.

They suggested the petitioner to address his grievance to the government through the MLA or MP.
