The Allahabad High Court today reserved its order on a writ petition filed by the vice- chancellor of a state university in Allahabad in an alleged illegal transfer of the institute's land.

The bench comprising justices B K Narayana and Vijay Lakshmi, while reserving the order, made it clear that till the delivery of the order, no coercive action shall be taken against the Sam Higginbottom University vice-chancellor R B Lall.

The high court also directed Lall to cooperate in the investigation.

On December 11, an FIR was lodged accusing Lall and two others of illegally transferring land of the Sam Higginbottom Institute of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences (Shuats) to Yeshu Darbar trust and several others without taking the Uttar Pradesh's government permission.

Notably, the Shuats is mired in many controversies, including an alleged misappropriation of funds.
