The Kerala High Court today directed the Director of Education to collect details regarding the schools to impart education to tribal children and file a report in two weeks time.
The court also directed the state to give details of facilties in the schools in the tribal areas.
The directions in this regard were issued by a division bench comprising Chief Justice Manjula Chellur and Justice P R Ramachandra Menon.

The suo motu proceedings were launched while considering letters sent by one Mahesh Ramakrishnan and students of government tribal school, Echippara, Thrissur complaining lack of school for tribal chidlren and plantation workers.
They complained the present lower primary school was built in 1958. The next school was 14km away. Even though many applications were given to government, no action was taken, they added.
