The Kerala High Court today sought an explanation from the state government over the poor condition of state roads, asking why the necessary maintenance was not undertaken from time to time.
Justice P R Ramachandra Menon sought government's reply on a petition complaining about bad condition of the roads in the state.
The court issued notices to the state government, PWD and CPWD, and directed the respondents to file counter affidavit carrying details of the amount set apart for repairing roads, besides an explanation for not undertaking periodical maintenance.
The court also sought to know whether performance guarantee was assured from the road contractors.
