: The Madras High Court today slapped an exemplary cost of Rs one lakh on a petitioner for filing a petition against a woman IAS officer of Andhra Pradesh, seeking a CBI probe into her community certificate.
Justices M Duraisamy and Anitha Summan directed the petitioner to pay the cost to the IAS officer Nagalakshmi and her husband Selvaraj within a period of four weeks.
The Judges said that the petition filed by Kasi Reddiar was only to threaten the officer and pressurise her to give up her claim towards family property.
It said the petitioner had deliberately filed the petition to threaten the officer, despite an earlier court direction not to reopen the proceedings as the issue of the community certificate had been already decided.
Nagalakshmi is currently working with the Andhra pradesh state government.
