The Delhi High Court today stayed the criminal defamation proceedings initiated by BJP spokesperson Tajinder Singh Bagga against a journalist.
According to the counsel for journalist Swati Chaturvedi, Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva granted the interim relief to the scribe, who has sought quashing of the criminal proceedings against her by Bagga.
Advocate Pranav Sachdeva, appearing for Chaturvedi, said the court has stayed the trial court proceedings.
Chaturvedi was summoned by the trial court as accused in the matter on May 17 and was asked to appear before it on July 12.
Bagga had filed a defamation complaint against Chaturvedi for her tweet on his appointment as a BJP spokesperson.
