Madras High Court today stayed further proceedings against PMK founder leader S Ramadoss in a defamation case filed by the Tamil Nadu Government.

Justice R Subbaiah passed the interim order on a criminal original petition filed on behalf of Ramadoss challenging the proceedings with regard to the criminal defamation complaint filed by the City Public Prosecutor in the sessions court.

The case was filed by the TN government over his alleged remarks about the Chairman of state-owned Arasu Cable TV Corporation in April last.

The matter relates to a press release issued by Ramadoss on April 15 about the functioning of the corporation which was treated as defamatory by the government.
