The Gujarat High Court today ordered a stay on the police probe in a dacoity and assault case registered against Patidar quota agitation leader Hardik Patel and others on a complaint by a man.

The stay was ordered by Justice A J Desai after the complainant Narendra Patel submitted an affidavit, saying that he is withdrawing his complaint as they have reached a compromise.

The court issued a notice to the state government and posted the matter for further hearing next month.

In August, Narendra Patel had lodged a complaint against six persons, including Hardik, at Patan B Division police station, following which they were booked for assault and dacoity.

The complainant had alleged that Hardik and others thrashed him at Navjivan Hotel in Patan, where he had gone to meet them. Hardik Patel and others were arrested and later granted bail.
