The Allahabad High Court today summoned the case diary and original records pertaining to the 2007 communal riots of Gorakhpur in which Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has been named as one of the accused.
A division bench comprising Justices Krishna Murari and Akhilesh Chandra Sharma also sought submission of the government order refusing to grant sanction for prosecuting the accused, including Adityanath.
The order was passed on a petition filed by Parvez Parwaz and Asad Hayat. Parwaz was a Gorakhpur resident who had filed an FIR in connection with the riots while Hayat was a witness in the case.
