The direction was given last week by a bench comprising Chief Justice Mohit Shah and Justice Nitin Jamdar who asked NEERI to submit its report on June 26.

The judges posted the matter for hearing on June 28.

The Court also asked NEERI to ensure that its representative remained present during the next hearing on June 28 and permitted the petitioner to include Mumbai Waste Management Ltd as a party respondent in the case.

The court further asked Mumbai Waste Management Ltd to depute its representative during the next hearing to indicate whether it would be ready to receive the concentrated effluent of H-acid from Hari Chemicals Exports, a company in Raigad district of Maharashtra.

The judges directed MPCB to submit by June 28 a report about performance of two other H-Acid manufacturing units in the state, M/s Nipur Chemicals at Taraput and Shree Pushkar Petro products at Lote in Khed district of Ratnagiri.

Earlier, the court had asked MPCB to give particulars about industries manufacturing H-Acid and details of sale price of their products. The MPCB was also asked to furnish information whether such industries were located within the limits of Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) or outside. Accordingly, MPCB filed an affidavit.

The court was hearing a petition filed by Nicholas Almedia, challenging transportation of effluents from an industrial unit in Mahad town of Raigad district to Taloja in Navi Mumbai. MORE
