The Allahabad High Court has upheld the decision of a fast track court which awarded seven years rigorous imprisonment to a man for raping and outraging the modesty of a minor.

The vacation bench of Justice Vijay Laxmi dismissed an appeal filed by a convict Jag Mohan of Malihabad, in which he had challenged the fast track court's judgement.

A Lucknow fast track court had found Jag Mohan guilty of offences of rape and outraging the modesty of a minor, sentenced him to seven years rigorous imprisonment and slapped him with a fine of Rs 2,100.

According to prosecution, on October 22, 2009 the victim had gone to a farm for harvesting the crop when the convict raped her.

Hearing her cries, the victim's brother, the complainant in the case, rushed to the field with another person. They saw Jag Mohan running away from there.

The court rejected Jag Mohan's contention that the conviction on the basis of uncorroborated testimony of the victim was not correct and upheld the conviction and sentence.
