Shares of HDFC Bank fell by over 2 per cent Wednesday amid reports of private equity giant KKR offloading some stake in the lender.
The scrip declined 2.07 per cent to close at Rs 2,242.70 on the BSE. During the day, it fell by 2.18 per cent to Rs 2,240.
On the National Stock Exchange (NSE), shares dipped 2.18 per cent to close at Rs 2,237.35 apiece.
On the traded volume front, 19.15 lakh shares were traded on the BSE and over 2 crore shares on the NSE during the day.
Shares of HDFC also faced selling pressure, down 1.96 per cent to close at Rs 2,027.40 on the BSE.
Selling in the HDFC duo also put pressure on the BSE 30-share benchmark Sensex which plunged 353.87 points to close at 38,585.35.
