The SVO has registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act on the basis of verification of a complaint lodged by Pritam Singh of Sirsa, Chenani, in Udhampur district and others against Head Constable Amar Pal Singh, Personal Security Officer of the then DIG, an SVO spokesman said.

The verification showed the Head Constable had demanded and accepted Rs 4,30,000 from the complainant and others in return for getting them jobs in J&K Police for which recruitment was in process in April 2010, he said.

On declaration of recruitment result in November 2011, when the complainants did not find their names in the selection list they approached the Head Constable to return their money who declined to pay back the money, he said.

During enquiry, it was found that the Head Constable by virtue of being posted as PSO to the DIG abused his official position and cheated the complainant and others by making them to believe that he could ensure their selection as constables.
