Lokayukta police caught a head constable red handed while he accepted a bribe of Rs 3000 from a person, after threatening him that he would be implicated in a bike theft case, official sources said.
Head constable Mahesh Jaat posted at Pithampur police station in the neighbouring Dhar district had called one Manzoor Khan in connection with a bike theft case and asked him to pay a bribe of Rs 5,000.
The head constable summoned Manzoor to the police station on the basis of call details and allegedly asked him to pay a bribe of Rs 5,000 failing which he would be falsely implicated in the case.

The head constable was caught red handed accepting Rs 3,000 which was supposed to be the second instalment of the bribe, near Pithampur police station, after a complaint was lodged with the the Lokayukta police.
The Lokayukta police has registered a case against the head constable under the Prevention of Corruption Act and started investigations.
