Head Constable killed in road mishap in Punjab

A 49-year-old head constable was killed today after a truck hit the motorcycle he was riding near Chaheru on National Highway 1 here, police said.

The police head constable Lakhwinder Singh was on his way to Jalandhar on his motorcycle when the truck coming from opposite direction hit it, they said.

The head constable died on the spot while the truck driver managed to flee with his vehicle, police said.

Singh was a resident of Thakarwal village under Mahilpur police station and posted as Head Constable at 36/107 Battalion of Punjab Armed Police, they said.

A case has been registered against the unidentified driver of the truck, police said.
