Headmaster assaults woman teacher, detained

A headmaster allegedly slapped and pulled the hair of a woman teacher inside the staff room of a school at Joynagar in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas district today leading to his arrest.

The trouble between the headmaster of Goalberia Srikrishna Nagar High School, Ashok Naskar and mathematics teacher Saswati Kundu began over taking of extra classes.

Kundu had allegedly refused to take the extra classes and Naskar purpotedly lost his temper and slapped her and pulled her hair, police said quoting a complaint filed by the victim.

Naskar, the complaint said, had also pushed her and threw her mobile phone on the ground, which broke.
 

As the word spread students gheraoed the headmaster and demonstrated in protest. Police later rescued him.

Kundu was treated at a local public health centre.

The headmaster was later detained by the police.
