The Kandhmal district administration in Odisha has placed the head master of a state-run residential school under suspension following death of a tribal student allegedly without proper treatment, official sources said.
Yamini Dadhangi, Collector of Kandhamal suspended one Sukant Dash, the Head Master of a residential school run by schedued caste and scheduled tribe department, at Damiunga village under Phiringia block, district welfare officer Ganesh Chandra Bharimalla said.
One Tilu Kanhar (9), a class 4th inmate and son of Samira Kanhar of Jajespanga village under same block was suffering from cerebral malaria and after a brief illness he died allegedly before any health aid could reach the tribal boy.
The head master allegedly handed over the body to the family members without informing the matter to the police. As the family members created the body the administration has no record of the cause of the boy's death, the district welfare officer said.
