The shared vision for improved national and global health is a key pillar of Indo-US strategic partnership, an American diplomat said here today.
Since 2004, US had contributed 260 million dollars to support India's implementation of its large scale multifaceted HIV/AIDS project, with Tamil Nadu being a leader in the area, Consul General of the U.S. Consulate General, Chennai, Jennifer Mcintyre said here.
Through establishment of a Global Disease Detection Centre in India, the US and Indian experts were working together in area of disease surveillance and epidemiology among others, she said.

Mcintyre said global health was an issue that extended beyond individuals, institutions and country.
Tamil Nadu Governor Dr K Rosaiah, who was also present, said the state and central governments' prime agenda was to provide good healthcare to the rural and urban population.
Voluntary and religious organisations and charitable trusts should extend a helping hand to take the health care to the unreached, Rosaiah said.
