Spices Board will be the competent authority to issue health certificates to export spices to the European Union (EU), the commerce ministry said today.
This is part of the conditions notified by the ministry's Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) for export of spices to EU.
It also said the board would issue such export certificates within a period of 48 to 72 hours after receiving samples from the exporter.

India's spices exports grew 15.29 per cent in August to USD 256 million as against USD 222 million in the same month of the previous year.
The estimated production of spices in 2016-17 was 7.08 million tonnes.
The main spices produced by India include pepper, cardamom, chilli, ginger, turmeric, cumin, fennel and garlic.
Major producers include Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Kerala.
