Mamata Banerjee today said that Self Help Groups members would be covered by a health insurance scheme.

"This benefit is for workers in the unorganised sector. We have now decided to extend it to the SHGs," Banerjee said while launching the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) project here.

The health insurance scheme for the SHGs would have a coverage to the maximum of Rs 30,000.

"I think this will provide SHG members with security to some extent," she said.
