This year's Perfect Health Mela will focus on creating awareness about health and hygiene amongst school children in a bid to reduce the incidents of congenital and rheumatic heart disease and early heart attacks in the youth.

Organised by Heart Care Foundation of India, the Mela will feature a series of interactive consumer based modules focused on educating over 4000 schools and college students about the importance of health and hygiene.

"In its 21st edition, the Mela will lay an increased focus on youth education for early and timely awareness about how preventive healthcare can help reduce the burden of diseases in our country.

"The activities like art, creative writing, quiz competitions, dance and music competitions all themed around healhty living will be held. They will be made aware about the ill affects of junk food, trans fat, too much mobile and internet usage and importance of exercise," said Dr KK Aggarwal, President of the Heart Care Foundation of India.

In addition, all students having symptoms of suspected heart disease will be provided free screening and consultation through the Sameer Malik Heart Care Foundation Fund.

The event will be held from October 15-19 at Talkotara Indoor stadium.
