The Jodhpur Anti Corruption Bureau today arrested the Pali district deputy Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) and a contract employee when they were accepting bribe from a retired staffer to clear his dues.
According to Anti Corruption Bureau DIG S K Narjari, complainant Santosh Singh had retired from the Medical, Health and Family Welfare Department in June 2008 but continued working at the office of the Chief Medical & Health Officer (CMHO) till September 2013 as an Epidemiologist.
"Deputy CMHO P C Deepan demanded a bribe of Rs 12,000 from Singh to clear dues during the post-retirement period," said Narjari.

Singh then complained to the ACB and after verifying the complaint, they laid a trap.
Dr. Deepan received Rs 2,000 from Singh during verification and settled for Rs 7000 more.
"When the complainant reached a Medicine Center near CMHO office to pay the amount, Dr. Deepan asked him to hand over the money to one Sampatraj, a contract worker, who was sitting beside him," the DIG said.
"When he received the money from Singh, we raided the place and arrested both Dr. Deepan and Sampatraj," he added.
