Jammu and Kashmir Minister of State for Health Shabir Khan today fined a block medical officer (BMO) and two department staffers for dereliction of duty in Jammu district.
Khan today ordered imposition of a fine of Rs 1,000 on the BMO of Sub-District Hospital in Akhnoor, and a fine of Rs 500 each on an X-Ray technician and a laboratory assistant, an official spokesman said.
The minister paid a surprise inspection to the hospital this morning and found that some officials had not attended to their duties as per the duty roster.

The minister asked the Director of Health Services in Jammu to impose a fine on the "indisciplined" officials. He visited each section of the hospital, enquired about patients' welfare, and took stock of facilities provided to them.
He emphasised the need for effective implementation of the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) to ensure health care to all, and asked doctors and paramedics to discharge their duties carefully and serve the patients with a missionary zeal.
