Press Trust of India Mukul; irresponsible comment: CPI(M) Kolkata
West Benga's ruling Trinamool Congress today hit back at senior CPI(M) leader Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee who had alleged that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was not honest. TMC General Secretary Mukul Roy claimed that during the Singur movement he had heard that an NGO run by former chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee's daughter had received a huge donation from the Tata's. Terming Roy's statement as "irresponsible", CPI(M) leader Md Salim said Trinamool Congress should stop spreading such "rumours". "I have heard that when the Tata's were building a factory in Singur, the NGO of Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee's daughter received a huge amount of donation from the Tata's," Roy said in an interview to Bengali news channel News Time. "I am not saying anything, I am saying that I have heard it. It may not have basis. You hear a lot of things," he said. Roy's comments comes two days after Bhattacharjee had, in a television interview, questioned Banerjee's honesty. "Mamata Banerjee's is an honest politician. The more he (Bhattacharjee) says such things, the more his party will get alienated from the people. We should also see the credibility of the person who is saying such things," Roy added. "I have never heard a political leader making such comments based on what he has heard. Such kinds of comments are totally irresponsible. Mamata Banerjee herself says that don't pay heed to rumours but her party leaders are spreading rumours," Salim told
