Hearing impaired man from Coimbatore gets Role Model award

A person with hearing disability from the city has been presented with the National Award of Role Model for the Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities.

The award, carrying a citation, was presented to the Director of Deafleaders Foundation, K Murali by President Pranab Mukherjee at a function in New Delhi, on December three, a foundation release said today.

Murali is involved in providing rehabilitation service to persons with disabilities for the last 36 years and conducting training programmes to them.

He is also engaged in promoting Indian sign language, it said.

"His extensive efforts and achievements in the rehabilitation of persons with disabilities despite his own physical limitations makes him the role model for others and worthy of the National Award," the citation said.
