The sessions court here today adjourned the hearing on the application filed by a lawyer seeking cancellation of the pre-arrest bail of senior police officer Sunil Paraskar till the next month.

The lawyer, advocate Chitra Salunke, had represented a Mumbai-based model in a case of alleged sexual assault against Paraskar, a deputy inspector general of police.

On August 12, the court granted pre-arrest bail to Paraskar, against whom the girl filed a case of rape in June.

Salunke's application says that Paraskar's anticipatory bail should be cancelled because he tried to threaten her through another person.

Meanwhile, a man today entered the courtroom during the proceedings, shouting that Paraskar should be sent to jail. He left after being told by the lawyers present in the court that he must follow proper procedure.

The complainant girl's sister told the court that they wanted to appoint a new lawyer, after firing Salunke.

Judge Vrushali Joshi adjourned the case till October 9.
