Chandigarh had a maximum temperature of 38 degree Celsius, while the humidity level was 59 per cent, Met office here said.
In Punjab, Amritsar and Ludhiana recorded a maximum temperature of 38.2 deg C and 39 deg C, falling by three degrees below normal. Patiala had a low of 39.4 deg C.
In Haryana, Ambala and Bhiwani recorded maximum of 38.8 deg C and 39.8 deg C, respectively. Hisar, Karnal, Rohtak and Narnaul had a high of 39.7 deg C, 38 deg C, 39.8 deg C and 40.3 deg C, respectively.
Met in its forecast said rain or thundershower may occur at isolated places in Punjab and Haryana in the next 24 hours.
