Sweltering heat conditions continued to prevail across Punjab and Haryana today as maximum temperatures hovered around 40 degrees Celsius.
Bhiwani continued to be the hottest place in the region recording a maximum temperature of 44 degrees Celsius, MeT department said.
Among other places in Punjab, Ludhiana sizzled at 40.3 degrees Celsius, up by a degree above normal while Amritsar and Patiala settled at 38.8 and 39.3 degrees Celsius.

In neighbouring Haryana, maximum temperature was 41 degrees Celsius in Hisar while it was 38.3 degrees Celsius in Ambala.
However, Narnaul saw mercury dipping six notches below normal to 35 degrees Celsius while Karnal registered 38 degrees Celsius, a degree below normal.
Dust storm or thunderstorm with light rain would occur at isolated places in Punjab and Haryana during next 48 hours, MeT department said in its forecast.
