Amritsar sizzled at 44.5 degrees Celsius, eight notches above normal.
Besides, Hisar settled at a high of 44.1 deg C, five notches above normal.
Chandigarh braved a high of 42.5 deg C, seven notches above normal, the maximum temperature at Ambala was 42.1 deg C, seven notches above normal.
Among other places, Rohtak sizzled at a high of 45 deg C, six notches above normal followed by 44.7 deg C at Narnaul, six notches above normal.
Patiala had a high of 42 deg C, seven notches above normal whereas Ludhiana settled at a high of 41.8 deg C, five notches above normal.
The Met forecast rains at isolated places in the region during the next 24 hours.
Besides, the summer vacations in all schools till primary classes in Punjab has been extended till July eight in view of torrid heat conditions.
