Heat wave conditions back in Punjab, Haryana

A day after marginal decrease in maximum temperatures, heat wave conditions were today back at most places across Punjab and Haryana including Chandigarh.

Amritsar in Punjab sizzled at 42.6 degrees Celsius, up two notches from normal, the MeT office here said.

Ludhiana and Patiala recorded above normal maximum temperatures of 42.5 degrees Celsius and 41.8 degrees Celsius, respectively.

In Haryana, Hisar experienced a hot day at 43.5 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal, while Narnaul, Karnal and Ambala recorded maximums at 40, 41 and 39.7 degrees Celsius, respectively.

The maximum temperature in Chandigarh also witnessed a slight increase since yesterday settling at 40 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal.
 

The MeT department has predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers at isolated places in Punjab and Haryana over the next two days.
