Severe heat wave conditions prevailed in the national capital today with the mercury crossing the 40 degree mark making it tough for Delhiites.
The Safdarjung observatory, the reading of which is considered as the official figure for the city recorded a maximum temperature of 42.3 degrees Celsius, two notches above the season's average while the minimum temperature settled at 30.7 degrees, three notches above the normal.
The Palam observatory registered a maximum temperature of 43.8 degrees Celsius, said a Met Department official.

The MeT office has forecast clear skies for tomorrow.
"The skies will be mainly clear. Dusty haze is likely towards morning and evening.
"The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover at 43 and 30 degrees Celsius respectively," the weatherman said.
Yesterday, the minimum and maximum temperatures were recorded at 26.6 degrees and 39.8 degrees Celsius, respectively.
