Heat wave continues in Pb and Hr, Hisar hottest at 44.4 deg C

Heat wave conditions in Punjab and Haryana continued unabated with Hisar recording the highest temperature among the two states at 44.4 degrees Celsius today.

Chandigarh also experienced a hot day, recording a maximum temperature of 41 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal limits, the MeT Department said here.

Among other places in Haryana, Ambala's maximum settled at 40.2 degrees Celsius, up two notches against normal.

In Punjab, Ludhiana recorded a maximum temperature of 43.8 degrees Celsius, four notches above normal.

Amritsar sizzled at 43.7 degrees Celsius, while Patiala's maximum settled at 42.1 degrees Celsius, two degrees above normal.

According to MeT forecast, light rain/thunder showers are likely to occur at isolated places in the two states including Chandigarh.
 

Dust storms accompanied by squall with wind speed exceeding 45 kmph is also likely at isolated places.
