Punjab and Haryana sizzled today under heat wave conditions sweeping the two states and their common capital of Chandigarh with the mercury hovering a few notches above normal.
The Union territory of Chandigarh recorded a maximum of 41.7 degrees, three notches above normal, according to the local MeT office.
In Punjab, Ludhiana and Patiala recorded maximums of 42.3 and 43.3 degrees, respectively, while Amritsar sizzled at 43 degrees.

And, while Ambala sweat it out at 42.5 degrees today, blistering heat in Hisar drove the mercury up to 44 degrees.
The high in Karnal settled at 42 degrees while Bhiwani grappled with the heat at 42.4 degrees.
The MeT office has ruled out any change in the conditions in the coming two days.
