Uttar Pradesh remained in the grip of searing heat today, where Banda in Bundelkhand region continued to be the hottest place with a maximum of 47.6 degrees Celsius.
Temperatures remained above normal at various divisions including Varanasi, Faizabad, Allahabad, Jhansi, Agra, Kanpur and Meerut, the local Met department said.
The mercury, however, settled below normal in Gorakhpur division, it said.
