Heat wave continues to grip Gujarat

Intense heat-wave continued to grip Gujarat today with most of the cities in the state crossing 42 degrees Celsius mark.

According to the state MET department, Ahmedabad remained the hottest city in the state with mercury touching 44.6 degrees Celsius here.

The heat wave swept the city for the second consecutive day where roads wore a deserted look and people preferred to remain indoors.

The state capital Gandhinagar and Vadodara recorded maximum temperature at 44.5 degrees Celsius each.

In Saurashtra, Amreli remained the hottest with a temperature of 44.2 degrees Celsius followed by Surendranagar 44, Rajkot 43.7 and Bhavnagar 42.1 degrees Celsius respectively.
 

Idar in north Gujarat registered temperature at 44.2 degrees Celsius and mercury soared to 42.2 degrees Celsius in Bhuj of Kutch district.

According to a MET department forecast, extreme heat conditions will continue to prevail over the state for at least two more days.
