Heat wave marks return in Punjab, Haryana

After a brief lull, heat marked a return in Punjab and Haryana as the mercury went above the normal at various places.

Narnaul in Haryana was the hottest place in the region with a maximum of 44.6 degrees, 3 notches above normal.

While Hisar and Bhiwani in Haryana registered highs of 43.8 and 43.4 degrees, Chandigarh recorded a maximum temperature of 40.5 degrees Celsius.

Ambala and Karnal registered highs of 41.1 and 41 degrees Celsius.

Amritsar was the hottest place in Punjab with a maximum temperature of 43.4 degrees Celsius, followed by Ludhiana 42.9 and Patiala 42.8 degrees Celsius.

According to MeT forecast, duststorm and thunderstorm may occur at isolated places in the region during the next 24 hours.
