Heat wave sweeps Haryana and Punjab, Hisar hottest at 44 C

Heat wave today swept Punjab and Haryana, as maximum temperature in most places in the two states hovered few notches above normal limits, with Hisar being the hottest place at sizzling at 44 degrees Celsius.

Chandigarh also experienced a hot day recording a high of 41 deg Celsius, two notches above normal limits, the MeT Department report said here.

Hisar in Haryana was hotter by two notches against normal.

Among other places in Haryana, Ambala's maximum settled at 41.4 deg C, up three notches against normal while Karnal too had a hot day at 41.8 deg C, up two notches.
 

In Punjab, Ludhiana braved a hot day at 42.9 deg C, up three notches.

Amritsar and Patiala also braved hot day recording above normal maximums of 42.3 deg C and 41.8 deg C.

Rain/thundershowers are likely at isolated places in Haryana and Punjab over the next two days, according to the MeT forecast.
