Heat wave sweeps Punjab, Haryana; Karnal bakes at 44 deg C

Heat wave conditions continued to sweep swathes of Punjab and Haryana giving no respite to people as the maximum temperatures today again crossed few notches above normal at most places.

Karnal in Haryana again braved a hot day recording a maximum temperature of 44 degree Celsius, four notches above normal, the MeT Department report said here.

Hisar sweltered at 43.5 degree C, one notch above normal while Bhiwani sizzled at 43.6 degree C.

Narnaul recorded 43 degree C and Ambala 41 degree C.

Chandigarh experienced yet another hot day at 40.7 degree C, two notches above normal.

In Punjab, blistering heat swept Ludhiana at 42.6 degree C, three notches above normal while Patiala, too, had a hot day at 42.4 degree C, two degrees above normal.
 

Amritsar's maximum settled at 40.8 degree C, one notch more than normal.

According to the MeT Department, people in the two states are unlikely to get any relief from the blistering heat conditions in the next two days.
