Heat wave sweeps Raj, Churu sizzles at 47.1 degrees

Churu sizzled at 47.1 degree Celsius today as a blistering heat wave gripped the desert state of Rajasthan.

Mercury rose by one to four degrees at most places due to dry weather conditions in the state, weather office said.

Barring Udaipur which registered a high of 42.5 degrees, maximum temperatures elsewhere in the state settled above 44 degree Celsius.

Jaisalmer reeled at 47 degrees followed by Bikaner 46.8, Barmer 46.7 and Ganganagar 46.1.

The maximum in Pink City Jaipur touched 45.1 degrees, the highest this season, as the weather bureau forecast severe heat wave conditions in the state.
