Heatwave claim three lives in Punjab

Three people died due to scorching heat in Batala, taking the death toll due to heat to five in the region.

Two persons died of heatwave in Haryana's Sirsa district yesterday.

Meanwhile, the day temperature in most parts of Punjab and Haryana hovered between one to eight deg C above normal. High humidity levels added to the woes of the people.

Narnaul was hottest in Haryana with a high of 46.5 deg C, eight notches above normal. In Punjab, Amritsar continued to be hottest place with maximum 39.6 deg C, three points above normal.

Elsewhere, Hisar settled at a high of 44 deg C, up by five notches, followed by Bhiwani at 43.8 deg C, up by four points.

 

Chandigarh recorded 36.8 deg C, up by one point.

While it was 36.6 deg C at Patiala, Ambala recorded 35.7 deg C.

The Met department forecast partly cloudy sky with possibility of rains and thundershowers at isolated places in the region tomorrow.
