Heatwave claims two more lives in Haryana

Sirsa district was hottest in the region and mercury was up by six notches.

The mercury was up by six notches above normal in several areas of Punjab and Haryana.

While Narnaul in Haryana was hot at 44.7 degrees celsius, up by six notches, the maximum temperature at Amritsar in Punjab was 43.2 degrees celsius, also six notches above normal.

Among other places, Bhiwani braved a high of 43 degrees celsius followed by 41.7 degrees celsius at Rohtak, up by four notches, and Ambala at 36.3 degrees celsius.

In Punjab, Ludhiana was hot at 40.4 degrees celsius , up by three notches, Patiala 38.6 degrees celsius, up by four notches, while capital city Chandigarh at 37.6 degrees celsius, up by two notches.

 

Besides high humidity and heat conditions, unscheduled power cuts in most parts of the two states compounded the problems of the people.

The Met office has forecast light rains or thundershowers at isolated places in the region during the next 24 hours.
