Heatwave continues in UP; Banda hottest at 46 deg C

Heatwave conditions continued in Uttar Pradesh today with Banda sizzling at 46 degrees Celsius.

Lucknow, the capital city, recorded a maximum temperature of 38.2 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature stood at 28.1 degree Celsius.

Jhansi witnessed a high of 44.7 degrees Celsius, followed by Agra 43.4 degrees Celsius, Etawah 43.2 degrees Celsius, Orai 43 degrees Celsius, Hamirpur 42.6 degrees Celsius, Allahabad and Aligarh 42 degrees Celsius each, Fatehgarh 41.5 degrees Celsius, Meerut 40.7 degrees Celsius, Varanasi 40.6 degrees Celsius, Kanpur 40.2 degrees Celsius and Hardoi 40 degrees Celsius.

According to the Meteorological Department forecast, Lucknow and adjoining areas will witness mainly clear sky in the next 24 hours.
 

Rain or thunder showers will very likely occur at isolated places in the state during the same period, it said.

The MeT warned that thunderstorm accompanied with squall is very likely to occur at isolated places in the state.
