Heatwave grips gangetic Bengal

The Met office has issued a heatwave warning for the next 24 hours to Bankura, Purulia, West Midnapore and Burdwan districts where the mercury is hovering between 41 degrees and 43 degrees Celsius for the last two days.

Temperature in the metropolis also saw a rise of three degrees Celsius above normal at 37.9 degrees. The relative humidity is recorded at 88 per cent.

North Bengal districts too experienced sweltering heat affecting normal life.

The weathermen predicted no immediate respite from the heat with little prospect of rain in the gangetic belt during the next 24 hours.
