Heatwave sweeps Pb, Haryana

Intense heat wave today swept Punjab and Haryana with maximum temperature soaring several degrees above normal in most parts of both states.

In Haryana, Hisar was the hottest place as it recorded mercury at 46.2 degrees Celsius, four notches above normal, as per the MeT department report.

Ambala recorded a maximum of 42.3 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal while maximum temperature in Karnal settled at 43 degrees Celsius, three degrees above normal.

UT Chandigarh recorded a maximum of 42 degree Celsius, three notches above normal.

In Punjab, Amritsar's maximum was 44.5 degrees Celsius, four degrees above normal while Ludhiana and Patiala recorded maximums of 42.8 and 43.8 degrees Celsius respectively, up to four notches above normal.
 

The MeT department predicted dry weather conditions in the two states during the next 24 hours.
