Moderate to heavy rains lashed Haryana and Punjab on Sunday and the maximum temperatures hovered below 30 degrees Celsius mark at most places.
Chandigarh received heavy downpour during the day. The maximum temperature here dropped by seven notches to settle at 27.7 degrees Celsius, a meteorological department report said.
Ambala in Haryana, which was also lashed by heavy rain, recorded a high of 27.2 degrees Celsius, down eight notches against normal.
Karnal, which also received rain, registered a high of 29.2 degrees Celsius, down five degrees.
In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a high of 29.4 degrees Celsius, six degrees below normal after being lashed by showers.
Ludhiana and Patiala, too, received heavy downpour and recorded a maximum temperature of 26.6 degrees and 26.2 degrees Celsius, down seven and eight notches below normal.
The weather officer has forecast more rains in Haryana and Punjab over the next two days.
