Heavy rain lashes sub-Himalayan Bengal

Heavy rain lashed sub-Himalayan West Bengal while Gangetic West Bengal experienced moderate rainfall as the Met department today forecast more rains in different parts of the state.

Coochbehar recorded the highest rainfall from yesterday morning with the Met department recording 108.6 mm rains.

The Himalayan town of Darjeeling experienced 91.5 mm rain, while precipitation in Jalpaiguri amounted to 50.1 mm.

Kolkata was the only place in Gangetic West Bengal to receive heavy rain with the precipitation being 75 mm, the Met department said.

Other parts of the state received moderate or little rainfall.

Baharampur in Murshidabad district recorded the day's highest temperature at 35.2 degree Celsius, while most parts of the state remained cool during the day owing to cloudy conditions or rains.
 

The Met department has forecast cloudy conditions with one or two spells of rain in Gangetic West Bengal, while the districts of sub-Himalayan West Bengal are likely to receive moderate to heavy rains in the next two days.
