Heavy rainfall forecast in Bihar over next 48 hours

Due to prevalence of cyclonic circulation over 5.5 km in the air in Bihar and Jharkhand, heavy rainfall may take place over the next 48 hours covering at least 25 per cent area in Bihar, Patna's MET Director A.K. Sen said today.

The remaining 75 per cent areas in Bihar will receive moderate to normal rainfall over the next two days, he said.

Sen said that the state had received a near normal rainfall at 131mm in first two weeks in September, 201mm and 303mm rainfall was recorded in August and July this year respectively.

The state has witnessed heavy deluge since the past four days, flooding several residential colonies in the state capital and paralysing normal life.

 

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed happiness at the heavy rainfall lashing Bihar and said that the water will provide a new lease of life to standing crop, including paddy.
