Heavy rainfall in sub-Himalayan WB, few spells in city

Heavy rainfall occurred at a few places over Darjeeling and Jalpaiguri districts of sub-Himalayan region of West Bengal while the city witnessed a few spells in the last 24 hours.

Rainfall occurred at most places over Darjeeling (46.3 mm), Jalpaiguri (81.8 mm), Bankura (5.1 mm) districts and at many places over Burdwan, Nadia and North 24 Parganas districts, an IMD official said.

Rainfall was also witnessed at a few places in South 24 Parganas, Coochbehar, Birbhum districts and at isolated pockets over rest of the districts of West Bengal, he said, adding that the city recorded 9mm of rain in the last 24 hours.
 

On the forecast, the official said the city would generally have cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershower with the maximum and minimum temperature likely to be around 33 degrees Celsius and 27 degrees Celsius respectively.

Moderate rain with thunder is very likely to occur at many places over Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, Coochbehar, Malda, North & South Dinajpur, East and West Midnapur, North and South 24 Parganas, Howrah, Nadia and Purulia.
